The first country to adopt volleyball was Canada in 1900. Beach volleyball was played with two players on each team. the team’s basic skills are to serve, pass, block, set, attack and dig. In the game as a player the objective is to make the ball land inside the opponent’s court. The skill of passing involves underarm pass or bump. The goal is to make sure the ball stays in the air so it can be driven by an attack into the opponent’s court. the object of attacking is to handle the ball so it lands in the opponent’s court and can’t be defended. A block was created o stop an attack but making the ball remain in the opponent’s court. Digging is the ability to prevent the ball from touching the court after a spike or attack but nearly touching the ground. Volleyball is a game of transition from one skill to the next. The MAIN objective of match coaching is to win the game.

Basketball Fever

Basketball is a competitive game and it is also a game of runs. Basketball is were two teams go head-to-head in a match and battle each until the clock strikes its last minutes of the game. Every single time a player who really loves the game touches the court, there main goal is to win every game they play. Each time a player plays a game they play there hearts outs and leave everything they have on the court. Basketball also has something to do with your mental game to because  to play the game of basketball you need good basketball IQ. The game of basketball is more of a mental game than it is  physical. the reason i say this is because the game is played in percentages. 75% mental and 25% physical. One thing you need to know is in order to play on higher levels of basketball, your basketball IQ has to grow as you transfer as you play on different and bigger and also more competitive levels of basketball. Now lets get to the fun part of basketball, basketball is played by which ever team at the end of the game has the most runs wins the game. So lets say that you have a team and you guys stops the other team from scoring the whole game but your team is scoring alot of points, then what that means is by the end of the game your team is the winner of the game because your team had more runs than the other team, and also to add a plus sign for you is your team played more defense than the other team and you guys stop them from scoring, so thats another part of your team’s gameplan to help you guys win the game. Basketball is played in some many ways, but it depends how you play the game determine if you win or lose. I know for a fact that every true baller that really loves the game the want to win.

Football As a Popular Sport

Football, or Soccer, as it is known in many parts of the world is a sport or game that is played between two teams, each containing eleven players. A rectangular field with goal posts at either end into which opposing teams must kick goals into forms the outline of the game. There are a set of rules governing the game, although much has changed in the way the game is played now.

It is easily the world’s most popular sport considering that over 300 million players from over 200 countries around the world are involved in the sport.

The origin or invention of modern-day football throws up interesting and sometimes controversial details. It was largely believed that Britain or England is where the game was first played in the medieval period and it gradually spread throughout Europe. A game involving a ‘party of boys playing a ball’ was first observed in the 19th century in England. However, the Chinese claim that the sport in England is largely drawn from a similar game played in China several centuries earlier. Unlike most other sports of that time, this was played on ‘foot’ and not on horseback, hence the name ‘football’. But there are vast dissimilarities between the two versions.

The rise and popularity of the game cannot be questioned and several hugely prestigious events and tournaments are held throughout the year in various countries. Professional football has seen the rise of several athletes playing the game at the highest levels with huge fan followings for the numerous teams. The English Premier League football season is a highly awaited even and has football lovers thronging stadiums to witness between their favorite teams manned by professional football players from many nations.

‘Soccer’ is the term associated with football in the US and it is claimed to have been coined from the English shortened slang for its formal name, Association Football or ‘assoc’.

Like many other sports and games where vast amounts of money and authority are involved, football has seen its share of infamy and scandals in recent years. The likes of former FIFA President Sepp Blatter and superstar Michel Platini have been accused of corruption and are facing suspensions and total bans. Several aspects like code of conduct, loyalty, conflict of interest and accepting gifts and commissions are part of the charges leveled against the highest ranked officials in the game.

Over the years, the dominance of South American players in the game has slowly been replaced by several European players but the game continues to be extremely popular even as a street sport as it does not require much equipment or infrastructure.

Why Children Like to Play Baseball

Mom and dad may have been fighting but for those special times none of that matters. What a wonderful and healing place to be. A place to learn all of the lessons life has to offer and gain confidence that will take you anywhere you want to go.Dreams are a wonderful thing but for a child on the baseball field dreams are reality as they learn to move with the grace and skill. A child plays baseball for the reason it was intended to be played and not to earn paychecks. A child plays for the smell of the grass, the crack of the bat, the camaraderie and to find out just who he or she is. Baseball is the first love of so many kids because it is always there and it does not discriminate.

From catching pop flies to taking batting practice it’s as though they are the heroes they watch on television night after night. Kids want to be like their role models. They want to be like A-Rod, Jeter, or Roger Clemens and it just always seems possible. The self esteem the game provides a child is both needed and necessary. It is a game that always gives back. When the coach tells you that you have done a good job that stays with you for the rest of your life.

For a child almost anything seems possible and all they want is the chance to put themselves to the test. Children are innocent creatures untouched by the evils of the world and all they want to do is be loved and have fun. Baseball always loves you back and always rewards a child’s hard work. To watch and listen to a group of children on the field is like poetry in motion. They all just seem so very happy.

Remember playing make believe as a child well now imagine coming of age and registering for your first year of baseball. What a thrill it was for me just knowing that I would even have the opportunity to play Americas great game. Baseball is about love and about learning to love oneself and there is nothing more every child deserves than to be loved. Baseball is also about innocence and to watch my kids out on the field truly warms my heart.

Finally, kids play the game for the reason it should be played for, not because of contracts obligations, money, or to be showboats. It is said that it is a kids game and I will say that to see anybody happy of any age is why we are all here on this great planet. God bless our kids and God bless our beloved game of baseball.

The Origin of Soccer

Although it may be impossible to accurately state when and where the game of soccer originated, history has shown us glimpses of a game similar to our present day version being played for over 3000 years.

Around the 2nd or 3rd Century BC, it was documented that the Chinese military during the Han Dynasty played a game involving kicking a ball into a small net.

A game similar to soccer was played by the ancient Greeks and Romans but their game could include up to 27 players on a side compared to the modern day game of 11 players to a side.

Soccer became one of the most popular sports of the masses due to its popularity as a war game. A game of “football” which the British called it, was played in the east of England during the 8th Century where the head of a defeated Danish Prince was used as the ball.

During medieval times, villages and towns were pitted against each other in game battles that could take all day. There were no structured rules to abide by and kicking, biting, gouging and punching turned the game into a virtual battle of survival. These matches became so violent that the English authorities made many attempts to have soccer banned.

King Edward III from England passed laws in 1331 to abolish the game and Queen Elizabeth I had a law passed that provided a one week jail sentence for anyone caught playing soccer.

Despite these efforts, the game of soccer became so popular in England over the next few centuries that it evolved as the most popular sport of its time.

At this point, the only shortcoming of the sport was its lack of rules or standards. In 1815, Eton College, a famous English school, established a set of rules to be implemented by other schools, colleges and universities.

A standardized version of these rules were later adopted in 1848 by most of England’s colleges and universities that were known as the Cambridge Rules.

Unfortunately, at this point, there were still two different sets of rules being used. Some colleges favored the Rugby Rules which allowed carrying the ball with your hands, tripping and kicking to the shins. which were contrary to the Cambridge Rules.

In 1863, The Football Association was created by eleven English soccer clubs and schools to establish a single set of rules to be enforced when they played against each other.

The supporters of the Rugby School rules objected to the changes and the two groups split apart. The Football Association later changed the rules in 1869 where they forbade the use of hands, except by the goalie, which led us to the game of soccer as we know it today.

The English still called it a game of “football” because the ball was played primarily with the feet but in the late 18th Century, the word, “soccer”, was first used by a student of Oxford University by the name of Charles Wreford Brown. The students at Oxford were known for using slang where they added “er” to the end of words that they intentionally shortened. The game of Rugby was called “rugger”. Brown shortened the word “association” and added “er” and the term “soccer” was born.

Since the 19th Century the game has evolved to where it is today. It is the World’s Game that is played by more people than any other sport and is universally recognized as the most popular game in sports history.

The World Cup which is held every four years to crown a World Champion draws millions of spectators to the 32 games played and is watched by billions of fans from around the globe thanks to modern day satellite television technology.

The popularity of soccer continues to grow as organized youth soccer programs are getting a young fan base involved at an early age which will fuel its growth for years to come.

Health Benefits of Cricket

Cricket is an extremely popular sport played by thousands of players worldwide who compete in professional competitions, amateur leagues, and local matches. Cricket is useful for its ability to provide social, mental, and physical benefits. It is also a reliable cardio activity that can improve the all-round health and wellbeing. Here are several benefits of picking up a bat and ball and making your way to a local cricket pitch or park:

Fitness benefits

Being more active and taking part in a physical activity or sport like cricket is certain to provide a variety of health benefits. The actions involved in catching, hitting, and bowling all rely on arm strength. It has the ability to tone and gain muscle strength in the legs and upper body. Cricket involves a lot of sprinting for the batsman when it comes to running from wicket to wicket or for the outfield players trying to catch the ball hit by the batsman. Plus, the bowler needs to be fit to complete the regular run ups before bowling the ball.

A typical game of cricket can last a while so both the batsmen and fielding players will be able to build up stamina and endurance from the constant running across the field. Even the occasional player can start to see improvements in their fitness levels after participating in a match of cricket. Flexibility is also improved with a need to keep sprinting and throwing.

Mental and coordination benefits

Cricket is a great physical activity that can help to improve hand-eye coordination. By developing the more efficient hand-eye coordination a player is going to be that much more successful when it comes to striking the ball with the bat or attempting to catch the ball when outfield. Improving coordination is certain to benefit even the youngest child, which makes this game a practical choice for those of all ages.

Social benefits

Cricket has 11 team members per side who must work closely together to defeat the opposition using a variety of strategies. This is a great sport to help build social skills, including cooperation and team camaraderie. Plus, by putting in the effort and being successful a winning team has the ability to build a sense of pride and accomplishment. It is also useful for helping to cope with winning or losing in a group or sport activity. Why Is Golf So Special?

Golf must surely be one of the finest games of them all. The day you take your first swing must be the happiest day of your life. It is a view shared by many golfers, including myself, who just happened to stumble across this fine and noble sport.

But why is it so special?

I believe it is because the game demands both mental ability and physical skills. It is played outdoors in fresh air, and on corridors of lush green fairway. It is a game you can enjoy and play well into your old age. It is a game where you can play alone if you want to or, you can team up with your friends and play in good weather or bad.

And because of the handicap system it allows us all a level playing field where we can compete against even the low handicap golfers or professionals, and still have the chance of beating them. Golf does bring out the best in people and it is a game that builds character.

You can easily make new friends simply because you have something in common. There is high expectancy placed on each player to adhere to the rules of the game and not be caught cheating. In golf, you are not only playing against your opponent, but you are also playing against the hazards of the course and we must not discount the severe weather conditions that could severely affect our game.

It does take some practice and dedication to become good at this game, and we can never say we have mastered golf because we never will. All we can do is to play to the best of our ability on any given day. It is also a ‘character builder’ whereby, if things go badly wrong then you have no one else to blame.

You take the consequences for the decisions you make. Equally, you can take personal pride when things turn out right and you have won the day. There are no age barriers when it comes to golf. You can start at any time but should any one wish to take it up professionally then it could be suggested they start playing golf at around 9 to 12 years of age.
